Rolf Maas (NL 1970): “Het maken van grafiek is voor mij een manier om om te gaan met de wereld om me heen en wat ik er allemaal in zie. Ik kan me heel gelukkig voelen als ik zonlicht op een muur vormen zie maken die per seconde veranderen. Hoe het patroon van een stop in elkaar zit. Hoe de nacht me kan omarmen en mij klein laat voelen en al het andere om me heen groot. Het is geweldig om dit soort momenten om te zetten naar beeld. Grafiek is een hele fysieke manier van het maken van beeld. Je moet namelijk eerst lets maken voordat je kunt gaan drukken, heel indirect dus. Anders dan schilderen, dat is direct; je ziet het meteen. Elk aspect van het hele proces heeft invloed op dat uiteindelijke beeld. In dat opzicht heeft het veel vakmanschap in zich. Er is veel dat tijdens dit hele proces mis kan gaan maar ook ontzettend veel om te ontdekken wanneer dat gebeurt! Nieuwe ideeen worden zo geboren! Materialen waar je in werkt, gereedschappen voor de bewerking, papier, inkt, gereedschap om inkt uit te rollen, de pers, de drukkracht. Alles heeft invloed op het uiteindelijke beeld. Maar natuurlijk ook ik, mijn stemming en de fysieke kracht waarmee alles moet gebeuren maakt wel dat ik ook elke print ben!”

Rolf Maas (NL 1970): “Creating prints is a way for me to deal with the world around me and everything I see in it. I can feel extremely happy when I see sunlight creating patterns on a wall that change every second. I notice how the pattern of a pavement fits together, and how the night can embrace me, making me feel small while everything else around me feels big. It is wonderful to capture these moments in an image. Printing is a very physical way to create an image. First, you must create something before you can begin printing, which is quite indirect. This is unlike painting, which is a more direct process; you see the result immediately. Every aspect of the entire process affects the final image. In this sense, it requires a lot of craftsmanship. There is a lot that can go wrong during this process, but there is also a lot to discover when it does!
New ideas can be born! The materials you work with, the tools for processing, the paper, the ink, the tools to roll the ink, the press, and the pressure applied all influence the final image. But of course, I also have an impact; my mood and physical strength make me part of every print.”

Michiel Deylius

Michiel Deylius (NL 1956): “Ik werk sinds 2002 als zelfstandig beeldhouwer/letter hakker/vormgever in steen. Gaandeweg heb ik mij gespecialiseerd in het hakken van letters en vooral in het vormgeven van letters en tekst in steen. Dat is terug te vinden in abstract geometrische objecten, veelal gebaseerd op de vormgeving van geabstraheerde letters (waaronder een zelfontworpen alfabet Fragmentum). Daarnaast gebruik ik tekst en vormgeving om mij uit te drukken in maatschappelijke thema’s, zoals de meningencarrousel op de sociale media, communicatie en de toenemende behoefte aan factchecking.

Michiel Deylius (NL 1956): “I have been working as an independent sculptor/let-tercarver/designer in stone since 2002. Gradually I specialized in carving letters and especially in shaping letters and text in stone. This is reflected in abstract geometric objects, often based on the design of abstract letters (including a self-designed alphabet Fragmentum). In addition, I use text and design to express myself in social themes, such as the opinion carousel on social media, communication and the increasing need for factchecking.
